Thomas the Tank Engine mods are nothing new to games. In fact, if a game has modding capabilities, it's an unwritten rule that somebody has to mod the train into it somehow. The blue, slightly sinister locomotive has made its way to Elden Ring, Resident Evil Village, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and just about every other game under the sun.

Monster Hunter Wilds fans new to the game are just finding out that there are unspoken rules to the hunt.

Naturally, with Monster Hunter Wilds being out for around a month now (and selling over ten million copies in that time), Thomas the Tank Engine mods have begun to make their way to the game. Strangely, though, this time, they're different from most other mods featuring the train.

Typically, Thomas the Tank Engine mods replace one of a game's pivotal enemies with the train. The Elden Ring mod replaces the Tree Sentinel with Thomas, and the Sekiro version uses Thomas instead of the Great Serpent. Monster Hunter Wilds does things differently.

Over the past week, a pair of mods have popped up on Nexus Mods that replace two of the game's iconic weapons with the blue train.
