Cyberpunk 2077 launches on September 17 for most platforms, but CD Projekt Red confirmed that despite the game's delay, Stadia players will have to wait.

In a lengthy press release mostly focused on other matters, CD Projekt Red restated that the studio's much anticipated RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, will arrive on Google Stadia "before the end of [2020]." While PC, Xbox One, and PS4 players can get to playing the expansive game on September 17, Stadia players don't yet know when their version will arrive, except that it will do so before the new year begins.

In August of 2019, Cyberpunk 2077 was announced for Google Stadia, and at that time, it was said that the game would come to Stadia sometime after its April 10 launch date on other platforms. But when the game got delayed across the board to September 17, some rightfully expected that gave the Stadia version time to catch up, but apparently that's not the case.

Cyberpunk 2077 is perhaps the highest-profile game to hit Stadia in 2020, but it's in good company. While much of the Stadia library consists of ports of older games or timed-exclusive indies, some other major games are hitting the platform this year, including the massive Viking RPG Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Crystal Dynamics' Marvel's Avengers project, which brings the superhero genre into the loot-brawler genre.

Stadia just wrapped up a weeks-long promotion that by its end gave new players access to 18 games via the Stadia Pro subscription, including PUBG and several indies only available on Stadia. Though that promotion has ended, a new one still gifting players a bundle of new Pro games for a month is now on offer.

We've reached out to the Stadia team to ask about the Cyberpunk launch window and will update this news post should they reply.
