A big update is coming to Rocket League

Developer Psyonix has revealed that a big update is on the way for Rocket League in order to celebrate the game's fifth anniversary next month. The developer says that there is a lot to look forward to in the second half of 2020, including new and updated features. The release of updates for Rocket League this year starts today, with a small update that is a preparation for the game's fifth Anniversary event.

"We're working on a big update to Rocket League later this summer, and while we're not quite ready to reveal everything coming to the game just yet, be on the lookout over the next few months," Psyonix stated on the Rocket League web page. "However, we are excited to announce that we'll be celebrating Rocket League's Fifth Anniversary with a two-week event starting at the end of this month with Limited Time Modes, and Rocket League- and Psyonix-themed items in the event store. These items and modes will be revealed in the next few weeks.

"We're very excited to talk about what we're working on as we get closer to the major update, so stay tuned this summer as we'll have plenty of info to share!"

Rocket League originally released for PC and PlayStation 4 in July of 2015. The game is a car-soccer title that has players drive cars into a giant ball in order to land it in their opponent's goal. The title is the sequel to the physics-based arena game Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. Players cars are equipped with boosters, helping kick up the speed and intensity of the game. Rocket League also features a number of customization options for their cars, letting players score goals in style.

Rocket League is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.
