A new way to battle Team GO Rocket has been added to Pokemon GO.
Right now in Pokemon GO, players will see Team GO Rocket balloons appearing on their map. According to the Pokemon GO Blog, when players see them, they can tap on them to initiate a battle with a Team GO Rocket member. Gamers then choose their battle party, and try to defeat the Rocket member and rescue their Shadow Pokemon. Balloons will only hover near a player for a limited time before they fly away, meaning that players should tap on them as soon as they see them on the map.
If players equip a Rocket Radar, they may find Sierra, Cliff, or Arlo piloting a balloon rather than the typical Team GO Rocket grunt. If they have a Super Rocket Radar equipped, players may end up running into Team GO Rocket's leader, Giovanni.
Normally, players run into Team GO Rocket members by finding a PokeStop that has been invaded by them. Team GO Rocket balloons help gamers battle the gang without having to leave their homes.
Coming up is Pokemon GO's monthly Community Day. This month's Community Day will be held on July 19th, and will feature the Ghost-type Pokemon Ghastly. The event will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. During Community Day, Ghastly will appear more frequently in the wild, with there being a chance of encountering the shiny form of the Pokemon. When players evolve a Haunter (Ghastly's evolved form) into a Gengar during the event or up to two hours after, that Gengar will know the move Shadow Punch. During Community Day, players will be able to access an exclusive Special Research story for $1: The Great Ghastly. In this Special Research story, players will help Professor Willow as he investigates spooky happenings occurring inside his mobile lab.
Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS devices.
