For a lot of fans who got into the series with Skyrim (which is now 14 years old), the Oblivion remaster will be their first taste of Cyrodiil. That means they finally get to see what all the hubbub is about, and why so many fans insisted that it was better than Skyrim, lamenting the cut features and stripped-back RPG elements. What's more, some are even joining in now.

Take one glance at the subreddit, or any community forum right now, and you'll see countless posts saying Oblivion does this and that better than Skyrim, whether it's the magic, quests, or skills. But even Oblivion fans are starting to get exhausted by all the comparisons; "Stop posting Skyrim hate posts," u/Pretend-Ad-3954 called on the community. "It's pathetic [...] Oblivion is amazing, Skyrim is amazing, Morrowind is amazing. When will you all realise that each game has qualities that the others don't?"

With nearly 6,000 upvotes at the time of writing, it's clearly a sentiment that many share. "We should be thankful that we have 3 excellent games in the same setting, that all play completely different from one another," u/Dmbender said. "Not many fanbases get that."
