It can get a little lonely charting the vast wilderness of Cyrodiil by yourself, so for Oblivion Remastered, the Skyrim Together team have reunited with a new, Souls-inspired project: Ghosts of Tamriel.

The mod lets you scribble messages on Welkynd Stones for other players to read in their own game, complete with an upvote and downvote system. Granted, unlike Dark Souls and Elden Ring (or really, Demon's Souls — the first to do it), it isn't a fantasy game of Mad Libs where you fill in the gaps with a bunch of themed prompts. Instead, you can just type freely.

Allowing the text to be freeform rather than selecting presets seems... brave and way too optimistic about the community.

It's a little risky, handing anonymous players the ability to write whatever they want in someone else's game, but so far, it's been mostly wholesome (well, if you count 'Try Finger But Hole' as wholesome). However, a lot of fans are understandably concerned about what the mod might spiral into as it gets more popular, and are calling on the team to either strengthen moderation or make it prompt-only. There's a reason Dark Souls chose the latter.
