Nintendo Switch Online members will be able to try out Pokken Tournament DX for free later this month.
Nintendo has announced that Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will receive a week long trial for Pokken Tournament DX later this month. The trial will start on July 29th at 10:00 a.m. PST, and will run until August 4th at 11:59 p.m. PST. The trial will allow gamers to try out the entire game, including the online modes, rather than a limited demo. Any progress made during the trial will transfer over if a player decides to buy the game. There will be a 30% discount on Pokken Tournament DX during the trial period, giving more incentive to buy the game and continue playing after the trial ends.
Pokken Tournament first released for the Wii U in 2016. The game came to the Nintendo Switch in 2017 as Pokken Tournament DX. Pokken Tournament DX is a 3D fighter that has players choose a fighter from a number of Pokemon, and battle it out. Players also choose support Pokemon that can aid them in the fight. The Switch version of the game featured a new playable Pokemon and new support characters at launch. A few more fighters and support characters were released as DLC after the game's launch. Pokken Tournament DX also added a few new features for the console. This included a Team Battle mode, where players choose three Pokemon and try to defeat all of their opponent's fighters, as well as a replay feature that let gamers hone their skills by watching other player's matches.
Nintendo Switch Online, which is required for the free Pokken Tournament DX trial, comes in three plans. One month of the subscription costs $3.99, three months $7.99, and one year $19.99. There is also a Family Membership option, which costs $34.99 a year. Up to eight Nintendo Account members can jump onto a Family plan. A Switch Online membership gives gamers access to online play, as well as the ability to back up their save data to the cloud. Switch Online members also have access to a library of NES and Super NES games.
Pokken Tournament DX is available now on the Nintendo Switch.
