Baldur's Gate 3 Patch Stops Players From "Tripping Hard"

Larian Studios has pushed a hotfiix for Baldur's Gate 3 which rectifies an odd and psychedelic bug. The CRPG recently saw its final major content update, Patch 8, which added 12 new subclasses, one for each class, but the studio's work on the game isn't fully complete. BG3 is still receiving general maintenance through smaller updates like this one.

Among a number of other changes in Hotfix #31's patch notes on Steam (via PCGamesN) is a fix for "the kaleidoscope of colours that appear when changing locations." The unintended effect is quite psychedelic, and the patch notes jokingly begin with, "Been tripping hard? It's not you, it's us (Probably)." The rest of the patch notes are rather predictable, being fixes targeting a wide range of bugs and crashes.

The so-called kaleidoscope glitch is the marquee fix in Hotfix #31, as it seems to have been fairly prevalent. It usually occurs when fast traveling to waypoints across Baldur's Gate 3's map, but could also occur when loading any kind of new area. The patch notes describe the bug as "trippy, high-saturation graphical artefacts." That's not all that was targeted in Hotfix #31, though.
