The Finals Season 7 Will Introduce Call of Duty-Esque 'Ultimate' Battle Pass

The Finals developer, Embark Studios, has unveiled a new 'Ultimate' Battle Pass for the shooter's Season 7 update. The Finals' new Battle Pass will be akin to Call of Duty's controversial BlackCell Battle Pass, allowing players to unlock variant skin styles, earn additional Multibucks, achieve a 25% Match XP bonus, and more. However, much like Call of Duty's BlackCell Battle Pass, the Ultimate edition can only be purchased with real-life money.

Battle Passes have become a common feature in live-service games, with titles such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, Call of Duty: Warzone, PUBG: Battlegrounds, and many more all having their own version of paid passes. While none of them offer players any competitive advantage in-game, that hasn't stopped companies such as Activision from being heavily criticized for their monetization practices. Despite already having a paid Battle Pass, Activision took things to the next level in 2023 when it introduced the controversial BlackCell Battle Pass for Modern Warfare 2. The Pass adds tons of extra rewards each season, but it can't be purchased with in-game currency like its cheaper alternative.
