When it was announced, I was a bit perplexed by this DLC, in the sense that I didn't really think it was necessary: Neva's story was self-contained and it worked perfectly well. Playing through it didn't clear my doubts: the scenarios are visually beatiful, but less inspired; the gameplay is alright, althought sometimes frustrating; and the story doesn't really have time to develop into anything. But on the flipside, it's a very cheap DLC and giving Nomada Studio money isn't really a bad thing in my book.

Neva: Prologue is an excellent scenario for a short story-focused DLC. It introduces some engaging new content and continues to build on the lore and characters we grew to love in the base game. It's short, but it tells the entire story, and at $3, it's more than reasonably priced. If you enjoyed Neva, you should absolutely play the prologue.

Neva: Prologue is a compelling, short-but-sweet postgame add-on, revisiting almost everything that made the main game special.

And this is how Alba and Neva got to meet...

Neva Prologue isn't an expansion that attempts to do something entirely new. The game largely builds on the ideas and systems of the main game. Nevertheless, it's a well-crafted and atmospheric experience that demonstrates how strong Neva's foundation remains. Playing with lighting, timing, and disappearing platforms provides enough variety to keep the short playtime interesting. For players who played the original, the price of around three euros is a no-brainer. It's cheaper than a drink on a terrace and considerably cheaper than an evening at the cinema. In return, you get an hour to an hour and a half of well-crafted gameplay. That makes this DLC a delicious treat for fans of the game.

Neva: prologue is everything we could ask for in a DLC, telling the story of how Alba and Neva met, maintaining everything that worked in the original release and adding small details to provide the freshness it needed.
