There are three certainties in life: death, taxes and people getting upset about difficulty in Soulslikes. The latest discourse surrounds the recently released expansion for Lies of P - Overture.

The release of Overture coincided with the addition of difficulty settings in Lies of P. The game now has three difficulty settings: Butterfly's Guidance, Awakened Puppet and Legendary Stalker. The first two are easier modes, and the final one is the standard experience.

However, a recent video by game director Ji-won Choi said there's a possibility that the difficulty of Overture may be adjusted based on player feedback.

"Among all the feedback, we are paying the closest attention to the combat experience," Choi says. "We identified areas that did not turn out quite as we intended. Therefore, we are reviewing various adjustments, including difficulty reduction. However, combat is one of the most fundamental experiences in Lies of P, so any modifications or changes require meticulous work and thorough testing. We are still reviewing the specific details and schedule for a patch, but we want to let you know as soon as possible why it's taking our team some time, and the general direction we're heading."
