Ninja Gaiden 4 Dev Going Against Souls-Like Trend

When Elden Ring launched in 2022, no one could have predicted how big the game would be. Not only did it sell well, but it has since spawned countless Souls-like alternatives.

It's gotten to the point that almost every action game released has people asking whether it's a Souls-like or not.

That won't be the case for Team Ninja's upcoming action game, Ninja Gaiden 4. The dev team is "going against the trend" this time around, though don't expect the game to be a cakewalk.

Ninja Gaiden 4 Will Feel Familiar To Franchise Fans

At Summer Game Fest, Team Ninja producer Masakazu Hirayama and PlatinumGames producer Yuji Nakao talked about the action genre and how it changed over the years (via GamesRadar).

Hirayama states, "The conversation about action games has changed quite a lot since the last Ninja Gaiden game," referring to the 13-year-old game. "Soulslikes have kind of taken center stage," he adds.
