Critic Reviews for Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac
Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac brings the second 3D adventure for the gaming iconic into a new generation with a suite of upgrades and improvements.
I don't want to let my moan about the final boss overshadow the review. There's still a fun game here, and a lovely remaster of a well-loved platformer. The things it does well - the personality of Pac-Man, friends, and enemies in the cut scenes, the variety in the gameplay - shine brightly. For those with nostalgia for the original, I'm sure you'll enjoy your 'Re-Pac'-aged version. It's been made with love. For non-fans, however, this is a more difficult purchase to justify.Arguably, the price is a little steep for what's on offer, and some lingering retro-frustrations in the execution of the 3D platforming and boss fights might sit badly with an audience expecting a game with the finesse of more modern alternatives. Sure, even Donkey Kong Bananza has its share of cheap deaths, but the truth is Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac isn't in the same league. Short, sweet, prettified, retro, and not for everybody; those are the keywords here.
Pac-Man World Re-Pac 2 revives the PS2-era classic and updates it with major improvements. Its visuals don't hide the fact that the original is over 20 years old, and its controls could use some improvement, but it more than makes up for it with its superb gameplay, challenging gameplay, and great humor.

Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac is a fun and light-hearted action platformer full of little surprises and mini-challenges that will delight fans of Namco's popular mascot. The excessive ease and speed with which the main adventure concludes are its most notable flaws, which could deter players looking for a real challenge.

This remake adds thoughtful quality-of-life features that enhance the experience, though not enough to warrant its price point. Still, it’s a charming adventure that offers plenty for both newcomers and returning fans, and a nostalgic reminder of a time when the genre truly thrived.
Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac is not a flawless remake—but it’s a surprisingly heartwarming one. It enhances visuals, smooths out rough edges in control, and layers in replay value without losing the core DNA of the original.
Fans of 3D platformers will likely have a decent time with it, particularly if they enjoyed the original, but there are enough frustrations that hold this game back from being an easy recommendation.
In most respects, PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC is the definitive way to play the best-selling sequel. But a few of the level and boss alterations prove questionable at best (especially the latter), and the easy (immune) mode is a sizable step back from its more balanced predecessor. Bandai Namco would be wise to address both in an update asap. The game mostly makes up for these mistakes with its aesthetic and control improvements. Add time trial leaderboards, two-player co-op, and plenty of new and returning extras with some fun unlocakables, and you have an adventure that might keep you playing.
