Don't worry, Nier: Automata fans: the game's infamously raunchy character designs are safe from Square Enix's judgment, as the creators have responded to a mistranslation saying they had to censor content during development.

Nier: Automata is beloved for a whole lot of reasons, from its action combat that's some of Platinum's best to its brain-bending story and multiple endings. Of course, one of the earliest reasons that Automata made a name for itself is because of the, ahem, fairly revealing designs used for characters like 2B and A2.

Please, I'm on my hands and knees begging for more Nier.

While Automata is so much more than its character designs, it's fair to say that the game simply wouldn't be the same without them, and it's a large reason why they've stuck around for so long. In the midst of Stellar Blade's PC release, there have been some rumours that Square Enix asked Automata's creators to change the designs, but that apparently isn't true.
