Ubisoft will be making changes to Hyper Scape in order to meet the high expectations of fans.
On the Hyper Scape website, Ubisoft admitted that they did not meet the expectations that they had set for themselves and players. They state that when Hyper Scape was released into beta, they were thrilled with the positive response they had received. However, things have changed.
"While July's launch and Open Beta on PC were successful, we were not able to achieve the high expectations we set for ourselves with our full release on console that followed in August," the development team stated. "We also know that we didn't fully meet the high expectations of our players, so we are taking action. We have more work to do to get there, but out team is fully committed to the challenge."
To help improve the game, the Hyper Scape team stated that they will be building off of five pillars to help improve the title. The first is Combat Comfort. The team states that they intended Hyper Scape to have a high skill ceiling, but that the current skill ceiling may be too high. This makes things too difficult for new players. The second pillar was Onboarding. The team admitted that the game does not provide enough time and opportunities for new players to learn. They stated that they need to protect newcomers and help them become more proficient with the game.
The third pillar for the development team is Game Modes. They stated that respawn systems are being considered, as well as "deathmatch" style game modes. The fourth pillar is Player Goals. The team stated that there are currently not enough medium and long-term goals to help players stick around. The first version of a Player Ranking system will be introduced in Season 2, as well as more progression systems and match-to-match flow improvements. The final pillar is Cross-Play, which will be added to the game earlier than originally planned.
The Hyper Scape team also revealed that there will be more updates in Season 2 then there were in Season 1. They also stated that they will communicate often with the player base to keep them up to date on the game's progress.
Hyper Scape is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
