Studio Camelia, the team behind Kickstarted RPG Alzara Radiant Echoes, has announced it will be closing its doors, and that development on the game is now "on an indefinite pause".
In a Kickstarter update posted earlier today, Studio Camelia says that prior to the Kickstarter's commencement, it had secured funding for "half the development" of Alzara Radiant Echoes, and that the crowdfunding campaign was intended to "reduce the perceived risk" for potential partners.
The studio says it used the Kickstarter money to create a new demo, but that no discussions with potential partners resulted in a publishing contract, "despite having a playable demo, a senior team, half of the funding secured, and the Kickstarter campaign".
Eventually, since Studio Camelia couldn't secure funding to continue development on Alzara Radiant Echoes, the studio was liquidated, and development has been paused indefinitely.
Studio Camelia says there's a "slim chance that a third party might one day step in and offer to take over the project", but that this would result in a "different direction" for the game, although the studio says it hopes that direction would be "for the better".
