If you're anything like me, you sat through the Donkey Kong Bananza Direct wondering: Where on earth is Diddy Kong? The little primate was unceremoniously dumped out of Mario Kart World, despite dozens of other weird and wonderful characters appearing, so the longer he didn't appear in the Direct, the more it felt like Diddy Kong erasure was happening before our eyes.
A new look at Donkey Kong Bananza showed the monkey transforming into different animals.
Fortunately for us Diddy Kong enjoyers, the Kong appears for a split second a couple of times in the trailer alongside his girlfriend, Dixie Kong, confirming he will, in fact, be in the game. His appearance, though, has blown open the Mario timeline.
It took until the very end of Nintendo's Donkey Kong Bananza Direct for Diddy Kong to appear, leaving fans of the little guy on tenterhooks. He first appeared alongside Dixie Kong during the Amiibo section of the broadcast, with the duo seemingly running a shop, complete with cash registers and Rambi figures.
The pair then appears a little bit later in the Direct's closing montage, riding a Rhinoceros alongside Donkey Kong in what appears to be some kind of Rambi Race....
