Stardew Valley is one of the most successful indie games of all time, selling over ten million copies in just nine years while still regularly appearing in Steam's top ten most-played list (at the time of writing, it's ranked 8th). As if that wasn't enough, it just broke another monumental record.
As pointed out by u/im-not-sorry-jon, Stardew Valley is now the number one highest-rated game on Steam, overtaking Portal 2 with an approval rating of over 98 percent.

It's an incredibly close race, as Stardew Valley is only ahead of Portal 2 by just 0.02 points, for a total of 8.87. But with a huge price cut in the Steam sale, reducing it to $7.49, more and more reviews are pouring in, boosting its ranking.
SteamDB has a drastically different list because it has its own rating algorithm separate from Steam's. Even then, Stardew Valley is ranked second, beaten only by Portal 2.
