While RimWorld might not be a household name yet, the latest DLC for the game has pushed new players to try out this sci-fi colony sim.
Released in 2018, Ludeon Studios' off-beat game combines various genres into one to create its own unique experience. It's part sim game, part base builder, part strategy and survival.
This past week, the Odyssey expansion was just released for the title, and it's enough to push the game to new heights.
RimWorld's Odyssey DLC Propels Title To New Player Highs
Since its release this week, RimWorld has set new player records on Steam (via Steam Charts). It peaked today at over 85,000 concurrent players, which is the game's new all-time high. While it might not be a lot compared to other games, don't forget that RimWorld is a very niche title, and doesn't have the pick-up-and-play appeal as a shooter.
This is a massive win for the developers, and goes to show that even an old game can reach new players.
