The game turns 25 next year and has been released on numerous platforms, including the PS2, PC, Xbox, and Mobile, before being remastered and rereleased as part of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition. As of 2008, the game was reported to have sold 14.5 million copies, with a massive number likely sold since then.
