When Ghost of Yotei was revealed nearly one year ago as a pseudo-sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, there was one thing that stood out immediately from the reveal trailer — Jin Sakai was nowhere to be found. With Yotei taking place over 300 years after the events of Tsushima, it became increasingly clear that Sakai would not return to the franchise, largely because he's dead.
Ghost of Tsushima launched on this day in 2020, and changed open-world games in small but profound ways.
Still, that hasn't stopped fans of the budding series from imagining any which way that Jin could return, including via reincarnation. Now, Sucker Punch has come out in front of any speculation to quickly put those ideas to bed.
To preface, apparently some Ghost of Tsushima fans are convinced that the wolf companion that has been part of several trailers, alongside Yotei's protagonist, Atsu, is actually the reincarnation of Jin. Sadly, that doesn't seem like it'll be the case when Yotei launches later this year.
