Following the release of Metro Exodus in 2019, franchise fans have been left in the dark about what's next for the franchise.
Save for Metro Awakening, which was a virtual reality game and developed by another studio, there hasn't bee any announcement on the franchise's future.
That could be changing soon -- at least according to Reddit sleuths who think they have figured out when we can expect an official announcement from developer 4A Games.
Next Metro Entry Might Be Announced Soon Based On Fan Theory
According to Reddit user Revendi, 4A Games' X (formerly Twitter) account recently came back to life after hiring a Community Manager recently., This happened just a month before gamescom kicks off, whcih has lead the user (and others) to believe that something Metro-related will be announced at the event.
While the theory makes sense, it could also mean that 4A Games just recently managed to find someone to man the studio's Twitter/X account.
That said, it's more fun to theorize, no? And you have to admit, the timing would be perfect given gamescom would be the perfect venue to announce a new game in the franchise.
