So Many People Are Playing The 23 Year Old Final Fantasy MMO That The Devs Are Stepping In

Final Fantasy 14 has been in the dumps ever since Dawntrail released, as fans have become increasingly frustrated with the lack of things to do, wait time inbetween patches, and a lot more. It's caused a significant decline in player numbers as, understandably, fans of the game search for other things to do to try and fill the content drought until the game's next major expansion.

It turns out, Final Fantasy 11 may be one potential destination for a lot of players, as it seems as though the game has seen a recent surge in popularity over the past few months. It makes sense, given that Final Fantasy 14's new Alliance Raid revolves around the characters of Final Fantasy 11, and Square Enix loves to give us subscription discounts every now and again.

However, it seems as though even Square Enix didn't expect Final Fantasy 11 to become as popular as it has, as producer and director Yoji Fujito revealed in a post on the game's official website that the influx of new and returning players has "led to a series of unexpected issues", with most of the problems concentrated on the game's most popular server - Asura.
