Invincible's creator confirms Vs is the game he's been teasing for years, hopes it paves the way for more

Invincible's creator, Robert Kirkman, has confirmed that the upcoming fighting game Invincible Vs is indeed the game he has been teasing for the last few years. The comic book writer also explained why he and Skybound opted for the crowdfunding route to help bring Invincible's first proper video game to life.

Even though Invincible has been around for more than two decades in comic book form, the series and its blue and yellow hero shot to new levels of fame when the comics were adapted for TV and season one debuted on Amazon Prime in 2021. The show found so much success so quickly that 18 months later, Skybound dropped its first hint that there would eventually be Invincible video games.

Another 18 months after that, Skybound started crowdfunding for a triple-A Invincible game. TheGamer caught up with Kirkman during San Diego Comic-Con, who confirmed to us that Invincible Vs is the triple-A game Skybound crowfunded for. The comic book creator explained that Skybound decided to crowdfund for the project so that the company could be more "hands-on" with its first big Invincible game than it was with The Walking Dead....
