Following the success of their snow-based city builder, Frostpunk, 11 Bit Studios followed up with a sequel that was more ambitious and more extreme than its predecessor. Challenging players with moral dilemmas, hostile environments and a fair amount of political intrigue, Frostpunk 2 has been met with mostly positive reviews on Steam since its launch last year.
Since then, players have been treated to a series of free content updates, and even a modding contest with a prize of $10,000 for the overall winner.
While presently only available on PC, the grueling colony sim is set to arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on September 18th, 2025. This will be almost exactly one year after its initial PC release.
Picking Up Steam
11 Bit Studios has been on fire in the last couple of years, with a catalog of great releases spanning many themes and genres. From the narrative sci-fi adaptation of The Invincible to the supernatural detective adventure The Thaumaturge, it seems that 11 Bit has something for everyone, and the expansion of Frostpunk 2 to console players is yet another good example of that.
