Horror Inc. vice president Robbie Barsamian has confirmed that a new Friday the 13th game is currently in development, although we have no idea who's working on it right now.
Over the past few years, games based on classic horror movies have been all the rage. Evil Dead the Game, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre all jump to mind, and the popularity of those adaptations can mostly be attributed to two games - Dead by Daylight and Friday the 13th: The Game.
Dead by Daylight's mounting IP is only burying its identity, but Texas Chain Saw Massacre won't have that problem.
Dead by Daylight's influence in the horror game genre is obvious considering all of the games mentioned above are asynchronous online games, but Friday the 13th was arguably the first to do it so well with a specific license, leading to it gaining a cult following. That sadly didn't stop it from being shut down due to licensing issues, leaving us all wondering whether a new game would ever be released.
