Let's face it, MindsEye had a cursed release cycle. Since MindsEye launched on June 10, fans have made it their mission to speak their mind on what they believe is wrong with it. With abysmal critical review scores and fans universally bashing the game for its performance and other issues, it's one of the rare games that has united gamers (over universal disdain). However, another GTA developer has come out in support of the game despite the negative press.
Former GTA developer, Obbe Vermeij (who worked as a technical director at Rockstar North until 2009) has spoken out in support of MindsEye, saying that some aspects of gameplay are "top notch". This is a rare bit of praise for MindsEye, a game developed by another former GTA lead, Leslie Benzies.

In a post on Twitter, Vermeij explained his reasoning, saying that he found the game to be surprisingly good. However, he does acknowledge its flaws, saying, "If they'd fixed the worst bugs and released at $40 it would have gone a lot better."
