PUBG Is Leaving Two Consoles This November

If you're a PUBG player still using either a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One, I'm afraid I have some bad news for you. Publisher Krafton, which hasn't exactly won itself many fans recently over its Subnautica 2 debacle, could be set to cause further reputational damage by ending support for one of its most popular titles.

Although the vast majority of the game's players are on PC, there are still a large number of console players. However, services are set to be discontinued on older consoles on November 13th, with the game instead being relaunched on current-gen PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

A Necessary Transition?

In an official announcement via their website, PUBG Studios revealed that the transition "is a necessary step toward aligning PUBG Console with current-gen consoles", though little sympathy was spared for its loyal and long-term console players.

"To provide our players with a more stable gameplay environment on console and ensure a smoother, more seamless experience with future updates, we’ve decided to transition to current-gen consoles." The statement continues, "As part of this transition, we will be ending support for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One."
