Dragon Age: The Veilguard's extremely rough development timeline is well established at this point. Thanks to insight from people that worked on the series, we know that big decisions were made at the last minute, the Mass Effect developers were brought on to try and help but failed, and even the game's own developers have admitted the whole thing was "an impossible situation".
We can all sit here and wonder exactly what BioWare could have done to make Dragon Age: The Veilguard a success, but former lead Mark Darrah reckons a return to the drawing board would have made the biggest difference.
Darrah made this comment in a recent interview with YouTuber MrMattyPlays (thanks PC Gamer), during which he says that Dragon Age: The Veilguard suffered because it's essentially "four games stitched together". He then goes on to make the rather dramatic statement that the only thing that would have made a "massive difference" to The Veilguard's fortunes was to "shut the project down completely when I moved on to Anthem".
