A new performance mode has been added to Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
In a new update that was released overnight, a new performance mode for the PlayStation 5 version of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales was added to the game. Entitled Performance RT mode, it allows gamers to play the game at 60 fps with ray tracing enabled. Previously, gamers had to choose between 60 fps without ray tracing, or 30 fps with ray tracing active. According to a description in the game's settings (via GameSpot), the mode adds the new benefits by making adjustments to the screen resolution, reflection quality, and pedestrian density. It can be assumed that all these factors are lowered to allow the PlayStation 5 to play at 60 fps with ray tracing.
Last month developer Insomniac Games implemented the ability to transfer PlayStation 4 saves from Marvel's Spider-Man over to the Remastered PlayStation 5 version. The developer had previously stated that they would not be implementing the feature into the game. The update also added new suits from the Remastered version of Marvel's Spider-Man over to the PlayStation 4 version.
In order to get Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, gamers do need to purchase the Ultimate Edition of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Remastered cannot be purchased on its own. Those who own the game on the PlayStation 4 will not be able to upgrade to the Remastered version for free. While the upgrade to Remastered is not free, the original game is playable on the PlayStation 5 thanks to backwards compatibility. PlayStation 4 gamers just will not have access to Remastered without paying the extra premium for it.
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available now for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Those who buy the game on the PlayStation 4 can upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free.
