Last night, TT Games finally confirmed rumours that a new Lego Batman game is underway, and it's a far cry from anything we've seen out of the series in the last 17 years.
Instead of an enormous roster of villains and heroes to play around with, this new entry follows just seven characters in what looks like an Arkham game made out of plastic bricks. With a story that strings together every live-action movie since the Burton era, it's basically Batman's own Skywalker Saga.
Even with a slim roster, the excitement is palpable. Luckily, we don't have long to wait, because Legacy of the Dark Knight launches just next year. But fans are so eager to get stuck in that they're flocking back to the original 2008 game.
Yesterday alone, Lego Batman saw a 55 percent increase in players, reaching over half its all-time record. While a 24-hour peak of 573 players might not sound that impressive, it made Lego Batman the third most-played Lego game on Steam last night, only falling behind two of the most popular titles TT Games has ever released.
