Rustler Is a Medieval Grand Theft Auto-like Coming Next Year

Publisher Modus Games has partnered with Jutsu Games and Game Operators to bring Rustler to PC next year, and all the Medieval GTA vibes with it. Taking strong inspiration from the classic top-down Grand Theft Auto games, Rustler pits players in a world of horses, plows, and tournaments for arranged marriages.

It's that last point that becomes your game-long quest, as you'll want to weasel your way into victory at The Great Tournament to win the princess' hand in marriage. The team behind the game said you can form "weird alliances" and double-cross your foes on route to taking the coveted crown.

As this is a Medieval GTA-like, you can also steal horses, fire cows into the sky, and dig up collectibles like dinosaur bones. There were no radio stations in Medieval times, of course, so players seeking a musical accompaniment to their mayhem can hire a musical companion to play tunes along your travels.

Rustler will launch first on PC via Steam Early Access in the new year, but you won't need to wait that long to play it. Starting today, there is a free prologue available for all players on Steam. Simply titled Ruster: Prologue, you can find its Steam page here. As for the main game, its arrival via Early Access should mean we are waiting too long for the main game to launch after the prologue, though no more specific date than "2021" has been announced just yet.

Rustler's successful Kickstarter is what got us here, to where a prologue and Early Access launch are both within reach. The game's creators sought a crowdfund of CA$25,000 and over 1,400 backers ended up pledging nearly CA$40,000. Rustler arrives in 2021.
