Death, taxes, and a shooter franchise getting the extraction shooter treatment in 2025.
The latest entry is The Division 2, which is getting an all-new extraction mode according to a press release from Ubisoft at Gamescom 2025.
The Division 2: Survivors, which is currently in the early stages of development, will be an updated take on the survival extraction experience. Magnus Jansén, who served as a Director for the original The Division game, will be back as the game's Creative Director.
Julian Gerighty, Executive Producer, spoke on the game's announcement: "The Division 2: Survivors is as much your baby as it is ours, and we strive for transparency during its development. Clear communication and community involvement are a focus as we build the new experience, and we will be closely involving you as we move forward on the development journey."
In terms of concrete details, that's about it, other than some screenshots, listed above. Those who enjoyed the winter aesthetic of the original The Division, myself included, will be happy to see that the game will take place in a snowy post-apocalyptic Washington D.C. However, it's going to be yet another extraction shooter, so there's that.
