Hollow Knight: Silksong Releasing In Two Weeks Has Players Flocking Back To The Original

With the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong finally almost upon us, many players are returning to the original Hollow Knight one last time.

The original game is seeing more concurrent players on Steam than it has ever had since its 2017 release, and it’s even creeping up the Steam best-seller charts as well as the trending chart on the SteamDB front page.

Ever since yesterday’s announcement that Silksong is launching on September 4, the concurrent player count for Hollow Knight has been shooting up, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up going even higher over the weekend and the next two weeks until the sequel finally drops.

It hit a new all-time peak player count with a total of 23,840 earlier today (via SteamDB), breaking its previous record of 20,324 from May 2022, when it hit its lowest recorded price of $5.99 during a sale.

The Long Wait Is Almost Over

The spike in the original Hollow Knight’s player count just shows how much impact the launch of Silksong is already having, and it’ll only get more pronounced once it’s actually in players’ hands.
