Playground Games, which has handled development for the Forza Horizon franchise since its inception in 2013, is hard at work on the Fable reboot, set to release in 2026 (we hope).
That hasn't stopped speculation about the future of the Forza Horizon franchise, though. Its last entry was four years ago with the critically acclaimed Forza Horizon 5. Since then, Forza in general has seen one release: 2023's Forza Motorsport. It's a far cry from the annual releases we used to see since 2011, which rotated between Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon for a decade.
Gamescom 2025 came and went without an announcement about Forza's future. On the one hand, this isn't entirely surprising. Again, Playground is busy with Fable, and Turn 10 recently underwent layoffs. They did have a job listing back in 2022 that hinted at the next entry in the Forza Horizon franchise, but it's been radio silence since then.
That silence may soon be ending. Don't be surprised if the next entry in the Forza Horizon franchise gets announced at another upcoming event: Tokyo Game Show.
