Has there even been a more hyped title in video game history than Hollow Knight: Silksong? We'd wager to guess the answer is a resounding no. Sorry, Kingdom Hearts fans.
As if there wasn't already insurmountable amounts of hype, fans of the original Hollow Knight are currently returning to Dirtmouth to experience the game that started it all. So much so that they're actively setting and resetting the peak player numbers on Steam.
Just two days after setting an all-time high on Steam, that number has since grown to a new peak of 39,356 players, which was set seven hours ago as of the time of writing. What's more, there's a good chance that the number could be reset a third time, as nearly 32,000 people are actively playing the game at the moment, according to the data housed at SteamDB.
Keep in mind that these are just Steam numbers, which only tell half the story. It's likely that the game is also similarly experiencing a similar uptick on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and Xbox.
