Your first encounter with The Legion in Fallout: New Vegas goes about as well as any other encounter with Caesar's barbaric horde. A single survivor runs out of a burning town full of crucified Powder Gangers, screaming that he won the lottery, before an unsettlingly calm man wearing a skinned coyote head tells you to spread the word of what you witnessed in the ruins of Nipton.
It's a brilliant scene that sets the stage for one of the most fascinating factions in the series' history, but if you follow Vulpes Inculta out of town to see where he goes after this ominous warning, things fall apart pretty quickly.
As discovered by u/Jester_Pug, he aimlessly stumbles around the mountain behind Nipton, ends up in the Mojave Drive-In, stares at the satellite, runs all the way down to Crescent Canyon East, emerges in the West the next morning with his entire squad dead, and then sprints through a field full of giant rad-scorpions. The opposite direction of where he's supposed to go.
Unfortunately, in true New Vegas fashion, their game crashed shortly after, so where he goes next isn't clear. But it's safe to assume that he just...
