Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has a pretty steep mountain to climb if it wants to get back into the good graces of fans. Not only has the popularity of Battlefield 6 skyrocketed - which Activision insists it isn't worried about - but the general opinion of Call of Duty has gradually soured over the years thanks to what many perceive as the Fornitification of the entire franchise.

Skins for characters from American Dad and Beavis and Butthead were the breaking point for many, with the game's insistence on being silly turning away and frustrating many fans. However, it seems as though Call of Duty Black Ops 7 might be taking at least some tentative steps to address the issue, as it has been announced that the game will not support carry forward.
