Japanese Super-Studio Commits To Developing An "Original AAA IP From Scratch"

Hideaki Itsuno has had something in the works at Tencent, and now we have some idea of what he’s been up to.

In 2024, following the release and success of Dragon’s Dogma 2, Itsuno left Capcom for Tencent, where he was put in charge of the new Japan branch of Lightspeed Studios.

Lightspeed Japan later expanded with a new office in Osaka, which has now gained three more Capcom veterans: Toshihiro “Bingo Morihashi” Nakagawa, Daigo Ikeno, and “Gouda Cheese,” also known as “Bengus.”

The Osaka studio and new hires are part of Lightspeed’s long-term commitment to produce new AAA games.

Three New Capcom Veterans

Toshihiro Nakagawa has worked alongside Itsuno as a planner and scenario writer for many years, including working on every Devil May Cry game aside from the first, as well as both Dragon’s Dogma games.

Daigo Ikeno is an artist and character designer who also worked on the Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma series, as well as some Street Fighter games.

Gouda Cheese or Bengus is another artist who has been with Capcom since 1992, and worked on several of their classic fighting games.
