Silent Hill has had a very rocky last few years, as Konami has made both successful and disastrous attempts to try and revive the series. For every Silent Hill 2 Remake, there was a Silent Hill Ascension or Short Message to drag the reputation of the series back down again. It's been extremely hit-and-miss for the series so far, but one game that is aiming for the former is the upcoming Silent Hill f.

Despite there being concerns about its combat-heavy "soulslike" gameplay (stop calling it that, the developers don't like it), it still looks like it's going to be one of the more promising titles to come out of the Silent Hill series. It's a good job too, because those making Silent Hill f are feeling the pressure of being the next game to release right after Silent Hill 2 Remake.

In an interview with PCGamesN, series producer Motoi Okamoto and Silent Hill f director Al-Yang said that Silent Hill 2 was so good that it is now viewed as the "quality benchmark" for the entire series, and that "all future titles, including Silent Hill f, are made to meet that quality benchmark."
