"We Do Not Want To Increase Subscription Fees": Final Fantasy 14 Director Issues Warning For Players Modding The Game

Final Fantasy 14 is in a weird spot at the moment. Player counts are falling, player unhappiness is rising, and now, it looks like content releases may be starting to slow down. That's not to say a dedicated player base doesn't remain, but the game isn't in the best shape currently.

As frustrations continue to creep in, the number of players modding FF14 appears to be increasing, so much so that director Yoshi-P has issued a warning to players modding the game in a way that "impacts the core game, its services, or the intended game design in a negative manner."

In a new post shared by Yoshi-P on the Lodestone website (which can be read in full here), the director begins by stating that he's a PC gamer who "tolerates" mods, before discussing ways in which they are damaging Final Fantasy 14. It appears to be directly related to Square removing the popular Mare Synchronos mod.

He warns that mods have a "risk of encountering a computer virus", as well as impacting other players in negative ways. He worries that players who install mods that make their character naked may bring the game into disrepute with...
