Left 4 Dead's Creator Is Making A New Co-Op Shooter Based On "What Made L4D Special", And It Sounds Like It Won't Be Another Back 4 Blood Situation

Mike Booth, the creator and lead designer of Left 4 Dead, has revealed that he and his team at Bad Robot Games are making a new co-op shooter "based on what made L4D special".

Although we all like to give Valve a lot of flak for how rarely it releases new games (Half-Life fans truly know pain), their very spread-out releases are made up for by them being some of the best games out there. For my money, the clearest example of this is Left 4 Dead 2, which still stands as one of the greatest zombie games ever made. Sorry Dead Rising, it's true.

Despite how much we all want to see it, Valve hasn't shown any interest in making Left 4 Dead 3 in the nearly sixteen years since the second game came out. Other developers have tried hard to replicate its success, though, with games like Evolve and Back 4 Blood desperately attempting to rekindle that magic to varying degrees of success.

Sadly, as much as both Evolve and Back 4 Blood tried to copy Left 4 Dead's formula, neither managed to live up to Valve's masterpieces. It looks like we might...
