If you missed the reveal of Ashwalkers some time ago, don't worry, so did we. But don't keep overlooking this "post-apocalyptic narrative survival journey." The new studio behind the project has the pedigree story-first players may appreciate.

Ashwalkers comes from rookie game studio Nameless XIII, but it's headed by Hervé Bonin, the co-founder of Dontnod and co-creator of Life Is Strange. Nameless XIII is a French and independent studio composed of seven people Ashwalkers was formerly known by its less catchy working title Cendres. Sporting its new name, the game has also been given a release window. It launches on PC via Steam this April. A demo will join many more on Steam next week from the 3rd through the 9th as part of the Steam Game Festival.

Ashwalkers is described as "a post-apocalyptic narrative survival sim in which four adventurers set out to cross a ravaged Earth." With anything resembling the society they knew now long gone, moral judgments are less about the system's influence on you and more about your own integrity. Players will make choices leading to one of 34 endings. Prepare to have your ethical code tested.

The game focuses on four characters as part of a group called The Section. These four characters, "the brave captain of the group Petra, the pragmatic fighter Sinh, the young optimistic scholar Kali and the cautious scout Nadir," set out to find safety in a world torn apart by a geological disaster.

Though the game has a strong focus on storytelling, it's not exactly an adventure game in the same vein as Life Is Strange. In addition to making choices, players will also manage supplies like food and medicine, scavenge and harvest vital resources, and "overcome obstacles, violent encounters, and the climate." Check out more on the game in this trailer below.

Ashwalkers will launch this April on PC via Steam.
