Marvel Rivals Is Finally Getting Placement Matches, But They're Not Ready Just Yet

Marvel Rivals is a pretty fun game most of the time, but it's ranked experience can be truly miserable. Thanks to a combination of smurfs and high-level players that have dropped due to rank decay, almost every single stage of the ranked experience feels like the Wild West when it comes to quality and fairness. One minute you're getting rolled by a returning Eternity player, and the next you're rolling over a group of regular Silver players.

It's a problem that's contributed massively to the anger over the game's wonky matchmaking, and for a while, fans have been calling for placement matches to be implemented each season to try and shuffle things around and make matches fairer. For some reason, it's an idea that NetEase hasn't really addressed, but it now appears to have cracked.

In the game's most recent developer diary, posted to the official Marvel Rivals YouTube channel, lead combat designer Zhiyong laid out all the upcoming balance changes and features coming to the game in Season 4 and beyond.
