Here's How Pokémon Is Winning The War Against TCG Scalpers

Scalpers found a way to order Pokemon TCG product before the order pages even went live. This was, to put it simply, a little cringe. Over 40,000 boxes of the upcoming Phantasmal Flames set had been marked for the worst fate imaginable for any cardboard picture of Pikachu: ending up in the hands of predatory resellers.

Those scalpers even went so far as to gloat about it on Discord, saying that the set was "beginning to look out-of-stock" once the resellers had their way with things. "This is OUR holiday season," said a grown adult, without a shred of irony or shame. "Let the criers cry and the whiners whine, they can go tell their moms what happened today and break their monitors while we reap the profits."

Naturally, the Pokémon company isn't too fond of the whole "Grinches stealing Christmas from children around the world" vibe the scalpers had going on. They've never been a fan of it, and have taken steps to make scalpers' lives worse before. Today, they took a look at all those fraudulent orders, matching the 40,000 grinches with the wrath of the 41st millennium. So to speak.
