Edmund McMillen Reveals Release Date For One Of The Most Wonderfully Strange Games I've Ever Seen

I’ve worked in the games industry for some time, and it’s been a fascinating ride so far. From the most conventional of roguelikes to the most brilliantly bizarre of ideas, you can never quite predict what a studio’s going to announce next.

Of course, some developers are going to think a little further outside of the box than others. Edmund McMillen, best known as the creator of the unique, distinctly gross and poop-filled roguelike The Binding of Isaac (sure to make you a genre fan), is certainly one of them.

Back in 2012, per Game Informer, McMillen announced that his next project would be called Mewgenics, elaborating only to state that this was “the strangest project [he’d] ever worked on.” This was a high bar to set, but as we saw more and more of this absurd adventure, which revolves around the concept of breeding cats, it became clear that he was absolutely right.
