It has been 4 years since the last mainline Resident Evil game, RE 8: Village. While we did get a remake of possibly the most popular game in the series (Resident Evil 4), we haven't really gotten a proper scary experience like RE 7: Biohazard in a while.
However, from the looks of the gameplay trailer and recent demo at Gamescom, PAX West, and Paris Games Week, it turns out that Resident Evil Requiem might be going the Biohazard route with its horrors, and the good news is, it is being recognized for it with the awards it is getting.
