Tetsuya Nomura has revealed that the release date for the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy has been decided, though he won’t say when.

When Final Fantasy 7 Remake was first announced, everyone assumed it would be just that: a full remake of Final Fantasy 7. As the release drew closer, Square Enix revealed that it was just a remake of the Midgar section of the game, and that the story would continue in future stories. This was later revealed to be a trilogy, with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth acting as the second game, ending in the City of the Ancients.

As part of a special livestream to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis, Tetsuya Nomura was asked about progress on the third Final Fantasy 7 Remake game. According to Famitsu, he said that development is going well and the release date has been set, with everything progressing according to schedule. He didn’t reveal exactly when the game was coming out: just that the date is set.
