With Halo being such a popular sci-fi franchise, many fans have taken it upon themselves to build upon and expand the series in a variety of ways.
For example, many fans have modded Halo titles and other games to create brand-new Halo experiences, such as Halo SPV3, Mercury Rising, and Doom 3: 2553.
Most Halo fan projects seldom go beyond the level of mods, but one upcoming Halo fan game will soon reach a stage other fan projects never do: an official standalone release on Steam.
In October 2025, Bathrobe Cast will release the free bullet heaven and roguelike game Spartan Survivors on Steam.

Originally available for download via itch.io since May 25th, and designed by JuanGGZ, Spartan Survivors is a reinterpretation of Halo: Combat Evolved in a classic arcade-like bullet heaven style.
You can play as Master Chief, Arbiter, and six other characters as they fight Covenant and Flood forces, as well as new bosses in Combat Evolved's 10 levels ranging from Easy to Legendary and even Endless difficulties.
