Battlefield 6 Dev Says Player Expectations And "Rose-Tinted Glasses" Make It Difficult To Remaster Classic Maps

Battlefield has been around for so long that it wouldn't make a lot of sense for DICE to just completely forget about this past, especially when it comes to elements of certain games that fans loved. Thankfully, once upon a time, one bright cookie decided that remastering maps could be a way to tug on the heart strings of longtime fans of the series, while boosting the amount of stuff for their current game.

Battlefield 6 is going to be no exception, as it's going to include several remastered maps from previous Battlefield games. While you might think this was an easy way for DICE to cut down on costs and get some easy wins under its belt, it turns out that remastering a map actually takes a lot more effort than you'd think.

Speaking with PCGamesN, DICE product owner and design director Shashank Uchil explained just how difficult it can be to actually remaster old maps, mostly thanks to a combination of player expectations and their "rose-tinted glasses" increasing the pressure. Uchil talks about Operation Firestorm particularly, a map from Battlefield 3 that's being remastered for 6, explaining all the things taken into consideration during the remaster process....
